Dzongkar Choede Monastery

Sand Mandala

Cultural Exhibit

The visiting delegation of 5 Tibetan monks is lead by the Venerable Lophon Jampa Sopa, a master in Buddhist Mandala Arts.

The sand mandala is an iconic part of Tibetan artistic and spiritual culture, meant to convey the expression of inner peace and harmony between the inside and outside worlds. It involves the delicate process of placing multi-colored grains of sand in the shape of a two- dimensional palace. As with the architectural and natural aspects of the Garden, both color and form are deliberate, representing the inner and outer aspects of inner peace and harmony.

What emerges is, for a limited time, both a timeless piece of art and a meditative practice.

Enhance your experience with a contemplative walk through Dr.Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden, lush with pine, bamboo and winter flowering plum.
