Villages
By Water Poon
July 1 - 31, 2011
Ongoing

Photo journalist and an artist, Water Poon has exhibited in China, Singapore, Tokyo, Canada, USA, Australia and the Philippines.

In Water Poon’s mind, photography strives for reality yet there are limitations on the composition of photo while you can make free of painting to widen the frame of mind. Putting down the camera, the landscape under Poon’s paint brush comes alive. His series of “Villages” painting reveals the beautiful scene of mountains and waters. He was inspired by the trip to Yangsu, Guilin with the simple life in villages and the radiant, enchanting scene of landscape. He thinks that the peace of village life there and the sunrise-sunset between mountains and waters give people the sweetness ravishingly.

“The mountains in Guilin are in special shape, every mountain is unique and independent with no linkage with the waters underneath. In the first sight, we think that the mountains link up with waters just because the mountains are made up of gray-blue rock.” Mr. Water Poon explained.
