Exhibition: March 1 - March 30
Hall of One Hundred Rivers

To complement the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden design, based on the harmony of four elements: rock, water, plants and Architecture, Dale Waldorf's photoart collection will be on display from March 1 - 31, 2012 in the Hall of One Hundred Rivers. * During the exhibition, Dale will be personally be at the Garden, in the Hall of One Hundred Rivers, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 2 - 4 pm, to meet with visitors and give background stories about her artworks.

Dale Waldorf’s This is China collection was inspired by historical, cultural, visual, and interactive opportunities experienced during recent travels to Central and Eastern China.

The unique process for her photoart combines photography with hand painting. Toned black and white images printed on archival fine art paper portray the essence of her photographic artwork, while hand painting within the image provides gentle blends of layered colours; presenting calmness from a distance and details upon closer examination.

Born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Dale received a B.A. in Sociology from Trent University, Peterborough, and a B.Ed. from York University, Toronto.  After working in education for thirty-three years, living in Ontario, Canada, and Cornwall UK, she chose to make her home in Vancouver. www.dalewaldorf.com.

 


Three Chinatown Stories
from British Columbia and Mexico

Larry Wong, Rebeca Lau, and Chad Reimer will get together at the Garden to talk about their experiences and stories living in three different Chinatown communities.

Dim Sum Stories will take you to Larry’s childhood in Vancouver Chinatown

Mami features Rebeca’s return to Mexico to eat her grandmother Mami’s Chinese-Mexican cooking.

Chilliwack’s Chinatown - A History will discover the previous existence of two Chinatowns in Chilliwack during the 1920’s.

All of these books will be sold in the Eight Treasures Shop.
