The Simplified Yang Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi Ch’uan), also known as the 24 Form, combines slow, steady movements and mental focus to increase balance, strength, awareness, and Qi (energy) flow. Taiji is a form of internal Chinese martial art, well-known and practiced for its health benefits. It’s a low impact exercise where you can practice individually at your own intensity level, and at the same time, each movement also contains martial applications suitable for partner work.
In this course, through practicing the 24 Form, basic principles of taiji will be explained, including alignment of the body, moving between stances, resting into your own body structure, and others. An ideal course for all beginners.

This form was created as part of China’s bid for the 2008 Olympics, and was performed at the Tian An Men square by 2008 practitioners. It combines movements from both internal and external styles, and is a fun and beautiful form to practice and perform.
The fan is regarded as a short weapon, and is often used to emphasize the “scholarly” aspect of Chinese martial arts. It has gained popularity among taiji practitioners due to its gracefulness, and the unique use of sound effects to emulate the use of power (fa-jin). Experience with the 24 Form is required. Fans are available at $15 ea.
